Explorations
Experiments, and the calls behind them
None of this shipped to a client. It's where I chase an idea without a brief, and the decisions matter more than what got built.
Memory dissolve
How my career timeline learned to remember, and a study in directing AI. The code took minutes; these four calls took judgment.
- 1.
Started literal: a particle swarm. Sampled the image into 15k pixels and scattered them. Impressive, and meaningless. More particles was the wrong axis. Rejected.
- 2.
Reframed: these images are memories. A memory doesn't explode. It comes into focus. Turbulence displacement and blur that settle into clarity. 750ms both ways.
- 3.
A memory has no edges. Three mask iterations (radial, feathered rectangle, blurred rounded-rect SVG) until no border survives. A slow breath keeps it alive; it never becomes a photo.
- 4.
Then the effect found its home. The whole timeline collage became a field of half-dissolved memories that focus under your cursor. Only the one you're looking at stays animated, because the frame budget is part of the design.

A third theme
Light and dark are both decisions about contrast. Shade is about the light you're reading in: warm paper, a little grain, and a palm shadow. Turn it on and it stays in the switcher.
Hover popover
Tool cards fan out on hover. An 80ms delay so the cursor can reach them without the arc dying.
Designed and built using AI tooling.
Selection copy toolbar
A copy button at the end of a text selection. It never covers what you picked, and it dies on scroll.
Select any textTap the text
Select this text to copy it. A subtle toolbar appears at the end of your selection.
Progress indicator
A loading bar that ticks unevenly on purpose. A linear fill looks fake.
Collectible stamp canvas
Perforated stamps on a free-drag canvas. Rearrange them, then click one. It tilts and the foil shifts.
